Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) is a public utility engaged principally in the generation and distribution of electricity, and the distribution and transportation of natural gas in select markets in Iowa. The Company operates through three business segments: electric operations, gas operations and other, which includes steam operations. In Iowa, the Company provides utility services to incorporated communities as directed by the Iowa Utilities Board (IUB) and utilizes non-exclusive franchises. The Company provides electric utility services to a range of retail customers in industries, including food manufacturing, chemical (including ethanol) and paper industries. It also sells electricity to wholesale customers in Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. The Company is also engaged in the generation and distribution of steam for two customers in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Company is a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation (Alliant Energy).
