Mr. Mares was employed as Portfolio Manager at Societe Generale from 2011 up to 2016 and is responsible for global long/short equity book focused on energy, resources, shipping, and renewables and fundamentals driven analysis based on consistent investment process, a natural Resources Analyst at Moore Capital from 2008 up to 2010 and is a Lead Analyst for Greg Coffey and examined government policy impact on resource companies through stimulus (China), environmental regulation (USA), trade barriers (Brazil), and financial market changes (global), focused on impact of LNG trade and European demand trends on Russian gas pricing and performed global analysis of shale potential (pre-DOE study), GLG Partners in 2007 up to 2008 and contributed investment ideas to GLG Emerging Markets Fund, the world's largest emerging market hedge fund at the time, an Executive Director, Energy Equity Research from 1999 up to 2007 and covered stocks for every sector in European energy over eight years, including integrated oils, oil services, exploration and production, oil tankers, and refiners and an Energy Analyst at Morgan Stanley Investment Banking from 1997 up to 1999 and is an Analyst on BP/ Amoco merger, BP/ ARCO merger, and Conoco spin-out from Dupont.
He holds a Bachelor's degree from the Woodrow Wilson School of Political Economy, Princeton University.
