Prior to Spence Asset Management, Mr. Spence obtained a wealth of experience in the financial industry.
In 1977, he worked as a Resident Assistant Store Manager with K-Mart Corporation.
In 1980 he began a fourteen year career in the financial services lending industry, with Norwest Financial, as a loan officer.
In 1982, Mr. Spence was hired on with Ford Motor Credit Company as a Dealer Services Analyst until he joined Lord Spence & Associates in March of 1994.
At Ford Motor Credit Company he managed the company's collection department.
During his tenure with Ford Credit, Mr. Spencer was also responsible for making decisions on auto loans, auditing dealer floor plans and analyzing dealer financial statements.
On March 17, 1994 he joined Lord, Spence & Associates and began managing investments and client relationships while heading up the Lord, Spence El Paso office.
Mr. Spence attended the University of New Mexico on a baseball scholarship.
In 1972 he was drafted by the Montreal Expos Major League Baseball organization.
He pitched in the Expos farm system in Jamestown, New York, NY-Penn League, West Palm Beach, Florida, Florida State League, and finally in Kingston, North Carolina, before an elbow injury forced him to retire from professional baseball.
