Connecticut Investment Management (CIM) is a large-cap growth manager. They tend to invest in the stocks of companies in the energy minerals, health technology and retail sectors. The firm maintains a very high turnover rate. CIM employs a fundamental, bottom-up stock selection approach. They are more concerned more with the individual companies that make up their portfolio than with diversification among industries and economic sectors. The firm seeks companies with leadership positions in their industries, technical strength, quality management, reasonable p/e ratios, strong financial structures, franchises in good markets and diversified, significant global revenues. The firm also looks for favorable insider buying activity and strong medium- to long-term consensus earnings forecasts. Their balanced accounts contain high-grade government, corporate, and in appropriate cases, municipal bonds with maturities ranging from one to ten years.
