Communications services companies fell, but not by much, amid deal intrigue.
Shares of Frontier Communications Parent soared after The Wall Street Journal reported that Verizon was in advanced talks to acquire Frontier in a deal that would make the telecom giant's fiber network offerings competitive with those of rivals including AT&T.
Swedish telecom concern Telia plans to cut 3,000 jobs across its business this year as part of a restructuring plan aimed at simplifying operations and cutting costs.
