Toyota Motor North America has announced an investment of over $50m for its Arizona test grounds.
The group will build new infrastructure for testing and developing vehicles and automotive technologies.
The new construction includes an 8.8 km oval track, an off-road park, and new rolling and maneuverability surfaces.
Toyota also plans to build a future facility for the development of advanced driver assistance technologies.
The site upgrades make it more attractive as an ideal location for companies looking to test new vehicle capabilities, including Toyota's own capabilities for our North American-developed vehicle lineup, thanks to the new and expanded development capabilities, said Stefan Young, vice president of R&D at Toyota Motor North America.
