Stellantis said Friday it would cease production of the Ram 1500 Classic at its Warren, Mich., truck-assembly plant later this year, resulting in layoffs at the facility.
A spokesperson for the company said indefinite layoffs could begin as early as Oct. 8, with the possibility of about 2,450 workers being affected. The actual number of affected employees will likely be lower, the spokesperson added.
The Warren, Mich., plant will move from a two-shift to a one-shift operating pattern in general assembly, the company said, adding other operations will remain on two shifts to support Jeep Wagoneer production.
In November of last year, the company introduced its new 2025 Ram 1500, a platform offering new options, including engine choice and electrification.
