(Alliance News) - Stefano Venier, CEO of Snam Spa, begins 2025 with multiple challenges and projects. These include the arrival of the BW Singapore regasifier ship and the upcoming connection of the Ravenna terminal.

As Corriere della Sera on Monday points out, the company is continuing with infrastructure upgrades to ensure energy security, despite difficulties, such as the recent stop of the Vado Ligure regasifier.

Venier points out that despite geopolitical and climatic uncertainties, the Italian system has 75% storage, which is higher than the European average. In addition, the Piombino and Ravenna regasifiers play a key role, with Italis LNG already booked for 19 years.

The strategic plan to 2029, with more than EUR12 billion in net investments, will be presented on January 22.

The focus will range from energy security to transition, including hydrogen, biomethane and CO2 capture. Tests in Ravenna with Eni have exceeded expectations, with a 90 percent capture rate. Biomethane is also showing strong growth, with requests for 2 billion cubic meters.

Despite recent pressures in financial markets, Venier says he is confident that the soundness of Snam's strategies will soon be recognized. The energy transition, he says, requires time and an integrated approach.
