Roche appointed a new executive, selecting Wafaa Mamilli as its chief digital technology officer (CDTO) to lead its global digital and technology strategy. Mamilli will report to the group CEO Thomas Schinecker and become a member of the corporate executive committee. Based at Genentech in South San Francisco, she will take over responsibility for the company's Informatics division.
Alan Hippe, who previously headed the division, will remain as chief financial officer (CFO). Mamillis appointment reflects Roches increasing focus on digital transformation and artificial intelligence to strengthen its competitive position in the health care industry. Mamilli joins Roche from Zoetis, where she served as chief digital and technology officer and group president for China, Brazil, and Precision Animal Health.
She previously spent over 20 years at Eli Lilly. There, she held several senior global roles, including global chief information officer for business units.
