1415 ET -- PepsiCo is one of the most-mentioned companies in the U.S. across all news items in the past 12 hours, according to Factiva data. The snack-and-beverage giant said it plans to acquire Garza Food Ventures, which does business as Siete Foods, for $1.2 billion. Texas-based Siete specializes in Mexican-inspired products including tortilla chips, taco seasonings and salsas. Pepsi said the purchase will complement its portfolio with the addition of an authentic, Mexican-American brand, while also expanding its better-for-you food offerings. Dow Jones & Co. owns Factiva.
