Telecom company Nokia and Finnish operator Elisa are deepening their collaboration through a new four-year agreement to modernize Elisa's networks in Finland and Estonia for the advanced 5G era, also known as 5.5G.

The upgrade aims to deliver higher capacity, coverage, and speed to meet the demands of AI, VR, AR, and industrial automation. Nokia will supply its AirScale portfolio, including next-generation Massive MIMO radio units and a cloud-based Voice Core solution. The agreement also includes automated data center services, network optimization, and a number of cloud platforms that reduce energy consumption and improve efficiency. No financial details were disclosed.
