Finnish paperboard manufacturer Metsä Board has finalized negotiations on its previously announced layoffs in paperboard and BCTMP in Finland.

The negotiations covered a total of 1 100 employees. As a result of the negotiations, any layoffs can last for a maximum of 90 days and can be implemented in several phases during 2025.

"The change negotiations were carried out to prepare for a possible temporary adjustment of production to match low delivery volumes in the event that the demand situation for paperboard does not improve in 2025," Metsä Board said in a statement.

At the end of October, the company announced that it would start negotiations on layoffs.
