The European Commission has approved the acquisition of joint control of the UK company Renewi plc by Macquarie Group Limited ('Macquarie') of Australia and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation ('BCI') of Canada.

The transaction mainly concerns the provision of waste collection and management services.

The Commission concluded that the notified transaction would not raise competition concerns, given the limited market share held jointly by the companies after the proposed acquisition.
