Spanish fashion group Sociedad Textil Lonia (STL) has reached an agreement to acquire 100% of French luxury fashion house Christian Lacroix for an undisclosed sum, the company said on Tuesday.

STL, which owns CH brands Carolina Herrera and Purificacion Garcia as well as 600 stores worldwide, described the deal as a "private transaction".

"By acquiring Maison Christian Lacroix, with its treasure trove of archives and rich history in French haute couture, STL expands its portfolio of brands and strengthens its international presence," the group said in a statement.

Christian Lacroix, founded in 1987 by the designer of the same name and known for its baroque gowns set with embroidery, was once part of the French luxury goods group LVMH and then belonged to the Falic family.

The Puig luxury cosmetics and perfumes group, which floated on the Madrid stock exchange in May, owns a 25% stake in STL.
