Interlocutions with SpaceX, a note from the Palazzo Chigi reads, are "part of the normal insights that the State apparatuses have with companies, in this case with those dealing with secure connections for encrypted data communication needs."
Bloomberg wrote yesterday that Italy is in advanced talks to sign a €1.5 billion contract with Elon Musk's company SpaceX to provide secure telecommunications to Italy. The technology would be used by the military and for communications.
According to today's Il Messaggero, the contract includes a five-year supply of telecommunications services to Italian defense and a partnership with Leonardo. Premier Giorgia Meloni's visit to the Florida residence of future U.S. President Donald Trump could now accelerate the negotiations, the newspaper wrote.
"The same presidency of the council denies even more categorically, considering it simply ridiculous, the news that the topic of SpaceX was dealt with during the meeting with the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump," the note from Palazzo Chigi added.
