(Alliance News) - Leonardo Spa and BF Spa have signed a memorandum of understanding - MoU - to promote more technological and sustainable agriculture, presented during the XXII International Agriculture Forum.

As Il Sole 24 Ore reported Friday, the agreement aims to develop global strategic projects, collaborating with multilateral development banks and supporting Mattei Plan initiatives. Objectives include protecting biodiversity and implementing sustainable agro-industrial models in strategic areas such as Africa, the Middle East, Latin America and Central Asia.

Leonardo will use its digital and satellite technologies to monitor crops, soils and water resources, addressing challenges related to climate change and inefficient resource management.

Leonardo President Stefano Pontecorvo stressed the importance of global security, which includes food, energy and infrastructure security. Thanks to monitoring from space, it will be possible to identify pests on crops or optimize water use, avoiding indiscriminate chemical treatments.

Federico Vecchioni, managing director of BF, highlighted how this collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to safe food production and the well-being of global communities.
