Leonardo, Falcon Aviation orders AW139 helicopter with option for second

Falcon Aviation, which offers business aviation services and is based in the United Arab Emirates, has ordered an AW139 helicopter from Leonard, plus an option for an additional unit, says a note from the Italian defense group.

This latest step will increase the fleet of Leonardo helicopters employed by Falcon Aviation, which already includes the AW109 GrandNew, AW169 and AW189 models, mainly used for the energy sector. Specifically, five AW169s and four AW189s are deployed for offshore transport tasks in the Emirates and Kuwait.

Leonardo S.p.A. is one of the European leaders in the design, manufacturing and marketing of aerospace defense systems. Net sales break down by family of products as follows: - defense systems (45.5%): weapons, radar, etc.; - helicopters (28.7%): for civilian and military uses; - aeronautic equipment (17.8%): aircrafts, etc.; - aerostructures (3.9%); - other (4.6%). At the end of 2023, the group had 111 production sites located in Italy (55), Europe (8), the United States (30) and other (18).
