Infineon announced on Monday the appointment of Alexander Gorski, an in-house executive, as the group's chief operating officer.

In his new role, which he will take up on 1 October, Alexander Gorski will be responsible for operations, procurement, supply chain and quality management.

He will replace Rutger Wijburg, who plans to leave the company on 30 September, after just over three years in the role.

In his previous roles, Alexander Gorski successfully developed Infineon's manufacturing business strategically, the chip designer said in a statement.

After his MBA from the University of Regensburg, he began his career at Infineon in 1999, when the semiconductor manufacturer was still part of Siemens.
