Infineon Technologies appointed Alexander Gorski as chief operations officer, effective Oct. 1, to succeed Rutger Wijburg, who is retiring.
The German chip maker said Gorski is currently executive vice president and head of frontend operations at Infineon and will be responsible for operations, procurement, supply chain and quality management in his new role as COO. His mandate will last three years.
Wijburg will resign from his position at the end of September, at his own request, to retire.
Rutger Wijburg is currently the Chief Operating Officer at Infineon Technologies AG since 2022. He is also a Member-Supervisory Board at Carl Zeiss AG, Infineon Technologies Dresden Verwaltungs GmbH, and SMART Photonics BV. In the past, Dr. Wijburg worked as an Engineering Manager at CSEM Centre Suisse d'Electronique et Microtechnique SA from 1996 to 1999. He was also the Senior Vice President-Operations at NXP Semiconductors NV from 2006 to 2011, and the Senior Vice President-Fab 1 Division at GLOBALFOUNDRIES, Inc. from 2014 to 2018. Additionally, he served as the Manager-IC Laboratory at the University of Twente from 1990 to 1992. Dr. Wijburg obtained his doctorate degree from the University of Twente in 1990.

Net sales are distributed geographically as follows: Germany (9.8%), Europe/Middle East/Africa (14%), China/Hong Kong/Taiwan (38.1%), Japan (9%), Asia-Pacific (16.7%), the United States (10.3%) and Americas (2.1%).
