Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) has decided to pursue its claim for $4bn in damages all the way. The case began in 2011, in Britain, HPE sued Lynch and his former CFO over the collapse of Autonomy, a software company. The judge found that Lynch had fraudulently increased the value of Autonomy. HPE is still waiting to receive the damages.
But just over a week ago, the bodies of Mike Lynch and his daughter were found in a sunken yacht off the coast of Italy. HPE issued a statement saying they would pursue the case in London. In the event of death, the claim can be directed against the estate. HPE will therefore pursue the claim against the estate of Mike Lynch, including his recently bereaved widow, who was on board the yacht and survived, and his daughter, who was not on board.
