(Alliance News) - On Thursday, Eni Spa announced a collaboration with automaker BMW AG aimed at pooling resources and expertise to "make significant progress towards decarbonizing transport."
The Rome-based company stated it has signed a letter of intent with the Italian subsidiary of BMW, headquartered in Munich, with the goal of developing joint initiatives to support the energy transition in the road transport sector.
More specifically, the partnership aims to integrate biofuels with an increasingly broad range of electric mobility services, Eni said.
The letter details initiatives built around three main pillars: promoting sustainable mobility, implementing new biofuel initiatives, and expanding electric mobility infrastructure.
Eni added that the agreement comes in the context of the current mobility sector, which, as it noted, is undergoing a "profound transformation." The change, Eni stated, is driven by emission reduction targets and is impacting both car manufacturers and energy operators.
Eni shares rose 0.1% to EUR 13.75 each.
