(Alliance News) - In January 2025, the eighteen energy companies listed in Milan accounted for 21.7 percent of the total value of Piazza Affari, with a total capitalization of EUR175.8 billion, Il Corriere della Sera wrote Friday.
However, in 2024, the sector declined 2.7 percent or a loss of EUR4.8 billion, contrasting the positive performance of the entire market, which grew 6.4 percent to EUR810.6 billion.
As Il Corriere continues, the research conducted by CoMar, Massimo Rossi's analysis and consulting firm, analyzed companies operating in the electricity, gas, oil and fuel sectors - including A2A, Acea, Acinque, Alerion, Ascopiave, Ecosuntek, Edison, Enel, Eni, Erg, Eviso, Gas Plus, Hera, Iren, Italgas, Saipem, Snam and Terna.
Enel, with a capitalization of EUR70 billion, is the leading company in the sector, accounting for 8.6 percent of the list, followed by Eni with EUR42.9 billion at 5.3 percent, Terna at EUR15.3 billion with 1.9 percent, and Snam at EUR14.3 billion for 1.7 percent.
In terms of performance, the best performer was eVISO, which saw a 155 percent increase in 2024 on Euronext Growth Milan.
Other significant rises were recorded by Saipem with 71 percent, Acea with 45 percent, Gas Plus with 28 percent, and Ascopiave with 22 percent.
