easyJet announced on Tuesday the appointment of Julie Chakraverty, a former UBS investment banker, to its Board of Directors.

The low-cost airline states that Chakraverty will join the Board as of January 27, and will be part of its committees dedicated to financial matters and issues relating to safety and operational availability.

In a press release, Stephen Hester, Chairman of the Board of Directors, points out that Julie Chakraverty will also bring her experience in more technological aspects, having founded Rungway Limited, a start-up specializing in employee loyalty and mentoring programs.

She previously spent almost a year on the board of Spanish banking giant Santander.

easyJet has also announced that Moni Mannings OBE, director and chairman of the remuneration committee, has informed the company that she does not wish to stand for re-election at the end of the next AGM, scheduled for next month, in order to devote herself to her other professional activities.

She is the founder of EPOC, a company dedicated to promoting the employability of people of color.
