BENGALURU (Reuters) - India's Bharti Airtel reported first-quarter profit above expectations on Monday as it added more subscribers who paid for faster and higher margin 4G and 5G services.

The country's no. 2 telecoms operator by subscribers posted a consolidated net profit of 41.60 billion rupees ($495 million) for the quarter ended June 30, an over two-fold rise from last year and beating analysts' average estimate of 38.69 billion rupees, per LSEG data.
