BAE Systems announces that the UK government has released £204.6m in funding for the production and integration of a new advanced radar for the Royal Air Force's (RAF) latest Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft.
The state-of-the-art radar, known as ECRS Mk2, will provide world-class electronic warfare capability that will enable the aircraft to simultaneously detect, identify, and track multiple targets in the air and on the ground.
This latest funding secures the critical elements needed for the manufacture of the radar and its integration into the aircraft by BAE Systems and Leonardo, and precedes a production contract expected later in 2025.
"This commitment to the continued evolution of the Typhoon's capabilities enables the RAF to maintain its operational advantage. It also supports the UK's sovereign combat capabilities, enabling Typhoon to secure our skies in the future," said Richard Hamilton, Managing Director - Europe and International, BAE Systems Air.
