BAE Systems announces the development of a prototype M109-52 self-propelled howitzer in partnership with the US Army, with the aim of providing a low-risk, low-cost technical solution to accelerate the delivery of essential combat capabilities.
This project is part of an agreement to improve the firing range, onboard technologies, and performance of artillery systems used in the field.
According to Dan Furber, director of BAE Systems' artillery range, this partnership combines proven systems with mature technologies for significant modernization at a reduced cost.
Development will continue at Picatinny Arsenal and at several BAE Systems industrial sites in the US.
