When Steve Udvar-Hazy, President and co-founder of Air Lease (AL), founded the company, aircraft leasing didn't exist. Today, 55% of airline aircraft are leased. On the occasion of the Paris Air Show, Udvar-Hazy talks about the shortage of supply in the airline sector, and says he is confident, with almost 400 aircraft in the pipeline. Any production delays will be compensated by aircraft manufacturers, and airlines are counting on lease extensions to bridge the gap.
