Shares of energy companies fell as traders hedged their bets on the outlook for production and supply.

Oil futures were more or less flat, with upbeat manufacturing data from China lifting prospects for energy demand.

Traders are largely holding fire ahead of the OPEC+ meeting in Vienna Thursday. Natural-gas futures fell sharply, giving back a chunk of their recent gains from last week amid milder weather forecasts.
