(Alliance News) - On Tuesday, major European stock markets ended the session in positive territory, with Milan doing best of all driven by banking stocks, above 33,800.
"The DAX40, Europe's largest stock index, not only reached a new all-time high, but also crossed the 20,000 mark," says Axel Rudolph, analyst at IG.
European stock indexes closed positive, with even the CAC 40 closing up slightly, despite the political crisis in France, while in the U.S., markets fell after the declaration of martial law in South Korea, with oil prices up 2.0 percent, compounded by expectations about OPEC+ cuts this week, notes IG's expert.
The FTSE Mib closes Tuesday up 1.0% to 33,829.34, the Mid-Cap rises 0.6% to 47,112.47, the Small-Cap advances 0.4% to 27,369.59, and Italy Growth gives up 0.1% to 7,714.16.
London's FTSE 100 closes in the green by 0.6 percent, Paris' CAC 40 ends up 0.1 percent and Frankfurt's DAX 40 finishes ahead by 0.5 percent.
On the macroeconomic front, in the US, October job openings were in line with the previous month's figure, but down 941,000 year-on-year.
Hiring remained stable at 5.3 million, down 501,000 year-on-year, while layoffs and involuntary terminations were almost unchanged at 1.6 million.
Back in Milan, on the highest-capitalization list of the Milan Stock Exchange, Banca Popolare di Sondrio did best of all, closing ahead 7.0 percent. Also doing well were Saipem, which rose 2.8 percent, and Prysmian, which closed the day's podium with a gain of 2.1 percent.
FinecoBank - in the green by 0.7% - announced Monday that it has received from the Single Resolution Board and the Bank of Italy the updated decision on the determination of the minimum requirement of own funds and eligible liabilities that replaces the previous decision communicated to the public in December 2023.
Recordati raises 1.2 percent. The company announced Friday the completion of the acquisition of the global rights to Enjaymo from Sanofi, following regulatory approvals. Enjaymo is a biologic drug and the only approved product targeted for the treatment of cold agglutinin disease, a rare B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. It is a humanized monoclonal antibody indicated for the treatment of hemolysis in adults with CAD.
Eni -- in the green by 1.0 percent -- on Tuesday reported that Enilive, a company dedicated to mobility products and services, announced a new agreement with easyJet airline to supply some flights departing from Milan Malpensa Airport with Sustainable Aviation Fuel -- Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
As the company explained in a note, easyJet's purchase of pure SAF blended 20 percent with conventional jet allows the airline to meet its needs for flights on its two new routes to Norway during the winter season.
Snam -- in the green by 1.0 percent -- and VTTI on Tuesday announced that they have completed the acquisition of shares in Terminale LNG Adriatico Srl, the company that owns Italy's largest liquefied natural gas regasification terminal located in the waters off Porto Tolle, Rovigo.
Among the bearish, worst stock of the session, Nexi closes down 3.8 percent. Also hurting were Azimut and Italgas, each in the red by 1.6 percent.
On the Mid-Cap, Salvatore Ferragamo - in the green by 7.1 percent - on Monday took note of the latest selling and confirmed the operating results forecasts already announced.
In light of the industry slowdown and new market estimates, simulations related to the impairment test for the 2024 financial statements were analyzed.
These simulations suggest possible write-downs of some assets, estimating an overall impact between EUR70 and EUR90 million.
Fincantieri - in the green by 0.9 percent - announced Tuesday that it had delivered "Viking Vela," the first in a new series of cruise ships it is building for shipowner Viking.
LU-VE--up 0.4 percent--reported Tuesday that it had inaugurated the doubling of its LU-VE Tianmen plant in China's Hubei province. The production facility has grown from 19,000 square meters to over 43,000 square meters with 6,640 square meters dedicated to finished goods storage.
On the Small-Cap, Softlab did well, closing the session up 7.3 percent, bucking the monthly performance, which is in the red by 18 percent.
Also good were Aedes and Conafi, up 5.4% and 4.0% respectively.
On the bottom Netweek and EPH, with declines between 15% and 16%.
Among SMEs, Promotica rises 7.5 percent. The company on Tuesday reported that it launched five loyalty campaigns in November for major national and international retail players such as Coop, Carrefour and the DESA group, worth a total of more than EUR24 million.
Maps - in the green by 4.3 percent - announced the supply of an integrated software and hardware system to the Arna consortium, composed of Rizzani de Eccher, Manelli Impresa and Sacaim, for the management of Legality Protocols, Job Documentation and Access Survey. The order, related to road works in the Samarate-Novara section and environmental monitoring, has a duration of 3 years and a total value of EUR362,000, strengthening Maps' position as a reference partner.
Cyberoo rises 3.4 percent. The company announced Tuesday that it has signed its first contracts with new strategic partners in Spain. The partnerships include the resale of Cyberoo's Managed Detection & Response services and offer widespread coverage in three of Spain's main strategic areas-Madrid, Barcelona, and Bilbao.
Bellini Nautica - unchanged at EUR3.02 - on Tuesday announced that it has entered into a partnership agreement with Fine & Country Real Estate Broker aimed at promoting Bellini Yacht branded boats in the Dubai market.
Mare Group rises 1.9 percent. The company Tuesday announced the start of a EUR4.5 million framework agreement with an international Aerospace & Defense customer for high-tech software development, with completion expected in 24 months.
SolidWord Group--in the red by 3.4 percent--reported Tuesday that it has shipped the Electrospider platform to a major hospital in Lausanne, Switzerland, which will be used for oncology research and the creation of complex human tissues for transplantation.
In New York, the Dow is in the red by 0.5 percent, the Nasdaq is in fractional green, and the S&P 500 gives up 0.2 percent.
Among currencies, the euro changes hands at USD1.0507 from USD1.0483 in Monday's European equities close. The pound is worth USD1.2654 versus USD1.2636 on Monday evening.
Among commodities, Brent crude is worth USD73.60 a barrel from USD71.81 at last night's close. Gold trades at USD2,665.44 an ounce from USD2,663.49 an ounce on Monday evening.
Wednesday's macroeconomic calendar opens at 0245 CET, from China, with the services PMI.
At 0945 CET, it is the turn of Italy's services PMI data and, at 5-minute intervals, France and Germany, to close at 1000 CET with that of the Eurozone. At 1030 CET, the UK services PMI is given.
In the afternoon, will be released from the U.S., at 1300 CET the mortgage report, at 1545 CET the services PMI, at 1600 CET the durable goods figure, at 1630 CET the crude oil stocks figure.
Returning to the eurozone, at 1630 CET, there is anticipation for ECB President Lagarde's speech.
