Export inspections of U.S. corn and soybeans fell back from the previous week, according to the latest data from the Agriculture Department.

In its latest weekly Grain Export Inspections report issued Monday, the USDA said that corn export inspections for the week ended Jan. 2 totaled 847,463 metric tons. That is down from 907,565 tons reported last week. Meanwhile, soybean inspections totaled 1.28 million tons, down from 1.64 million tons reported last week.

Even with recent shortfalls, inspections of corn and soybeans both remain ahead of last marketing year's pace. Corn inspections total 16.24 million tons for 2024/25, 24% higher than last year, while soybean inspections total 30 million tons, up 23% from last year.

Wheat inspections were higher for the week versus the previous week, totaling 412,342 tons, up from 339,101 tons previously. Wheat inspections remain 25% higher for the marketing year, at 12.72 million tons.

CBOT grain futures are up in morning trading, with most-active corn up 2%, soybeans up 1.2%, and wheat up 2.4%.
