WTW, a leading global advisory, broking, and solutions company, is strengthening its position in the energy and natural resources sector with the appointment of Jean-François Marchi as Director of Natural Resources. WTW created this position specifically for the French market. The appointment underscores the group's commitment to deepening its proximity to major international players operating in France and supporting their strategic and innovative activities.
The appointment of Jean-François Marchi is fully aligned with WTW's strategy to provide in-depth sector expertise tailored to each client's specific challenges, and to design risk financing strategies that are both optimized and resilient.
Having joined on March 23, Jean-François Marchi will assist clients in natural resource-related sectors in transforming complex risks into high-performance insurance solutions. He brings over 15 years of experience in the energy and construction industries, gained through major international projects at groups such as TechnipFMC, Saipem, and Vinci. This initial phase of his career provides him with a deep understanding of the technical and operational challenges faced by industrial firms, as well as solid expertise in project and crisis management.
He subsequently joined SCOR as an underwriter specializing in energy risks, where he developed an international portfolio and refined his expertise in the structuring and financing of complex risks. He quickly moved into leadership roles, notably serving as EMEA Sales Director at SCOR SBS, where he spearheaded strategic and commercial development.
As Chairman of the Large Risks Commission at APREF and a member of Cercle LAB, Jean-François Marchi maintains strategic access to the market and key decision-makers. He holds a general engineering degree with a focus on energy systems and resources from ESME and was trained at the Institut Français du Pétrole.
The Natural Resources sector encompasses energy infrastructure, mining and metals, chemicals, traditional energy including hydrocarbons, as well as renewable energy.
In this environment, companies face a diverse range of specific and cross-cutting risks: major industrial hazards, geopolitics, supply chain disruptions, cyber threats, market volatility, environmental and climate risks, as well as growing challenges regarding liability, compliance, and ESG performance. Managing these requires specialized expertise and a comprehensive, integrated approach.
WTW benefits from globally recognized expertise in this sector, supporting clients in identifying, quantifying, and prioritizing their risks, as well as in structuring tailored insurance and risk transfer solutions.
