Media company Viaplay Group has reported a decrease in revenue for the third quarter compared to the same period last year, while its operating profit increased. Revenue dropped by 8.9 percent to 4,018 million kronor (4,412). Organic sales growth for the core business was -2.7 percent. "Our core business performed in line with expectations. Sales from Viaplay streaming subscriptions grew organically by 1% compared to the previous year, as growth in direct-to-consumer and a higher average revenue per user offset declines in business-to-business. This reflects our continued focus on value over volume," said CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann. Sales of linear channel subscriptions decreased organically by 1 percent, which was in line with expectations, according to Viaplay Group. Operating profit reached 25 million kronor (2), with an operating margin of 0.6 percent (0.0). Adjusted operating profit was -56 million kronor (-56). Net result after tax was -142 million kronor (-148). Items affecting comparability totaled 33 million kronor (5). Earnings per share amounted to -0.03 kronor (-0.03). Progress is being made in the acquisition process of Allente, with completion expected in the fourth quarter. "Our priorities are clear: relevant and commercially viable storytelling, operational delivery, and continued revenue optimization of our strong content portfolio. We are disciplined in our capital allocation, focused on return on investment, and firmly committed to reducing leverage over time," wrote CEO Jørgen Madsen Lindemann.
