Media company Viaplay Group saw its shares climb by 4.6 percent following the publication of an op-ed in Svenska Dagbladet (SvD), where two investigators suggested legislative changes and new measures to combat illegal IPTV services.

The authors of the article argue that the upward trend in illegal IPTV usage must be reversed, and that a shift in attitudes toward unauthorized consumption is urgently needed if the legal market is to be protected.

"Both law enforcement agencies and rights holders must quickly be given better tools to stop unauthorized distribution, and it must be made clear that it is not permitted for individuals to use illegal IPTV services," the op-ed states.

Viaplay has previously indicated a positive stance toward efforts aimed at curbing illegal IPTV.
