Union Pacific Railroad reached an agreement with the American Trade Dispatchers Association union that guarantees jobs for life for union employees after the railroad company combines with Norfolk Southern.
The ATDA is the sixth national union to reach an agreement with Union Pacific guaranteeing job protection for its members, the company said Thursday.
Unions for transportation workers, oilers, firemen, boilermakers and supervisors have made similar agreements with Union Pacific.
Union Pacific is working toward completing its merger with Norfolk Southern to create a transcontinental railroad. It is targeting a close in 2027.
