Toronto stocks kicked off the trading week on the advance, with indexes rising mid-trading Monday. Sector performance was largely trending slightly lower, offset by gains primarily in commodities, followed by retail and communications stocks. Health services, consumer discretionary and transportation were the main laggards.

Canada's S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 0.7% to 32834.94 and the blue-chip S&P/TSX 60 rose 0.4% to 1914.13.

Groupe Dynamite tightened its full-year outlook for 2025 after a strong holiday stretch that lifted sales expectations. Shares rose 0.6% to 84.91 Canadian dollars ($61.01).


Other market movers:

SunOpta shares were trading 19% higher at C$6.20 after the Toronto- and New York-listed technology company raised its fiscal 2025 revenue guidance.
