(Alliance News) - Telecom Italia Spa announced on Monday that it had signed a strategic agreement with Nokia to expand and modernize its 5G network, enhancing services to the group's customers and contributing to the spread of ultra-broadband in underserved areas.

The agreement will enable faster and more stable mobile performance, superior network quality in urban and rural areas, and reduced response times for digital applications and cloud services, while also improving streaming, gaming, remote collaboration, and solutions for businesses and public administration.

TIM CEO Pietro Labriola said, "This partnership brings together two leaders in European innovation with the aim of enhancing the continent's technology supply chains and accelerating the development of strategic solutions for Europe's digital and industrial sovereignty."

On a technical level, the agreement provides for the adoption of latest-generation radio solutions and network platforms, already prepared for integration with artificial intelligence and designed to increase capacity and performance, while reducing energy consumption and the environmental impact of infrastructure.

The initiative, the company explains, represents a further step forward in the industrial transformation that TIM has been pursuing for four years, focusing on the most advanced digital infrastructure and high-value services, with a simpler and more efficient operating model.

TIM's stock is up 0.1% to EUR0.4995 per share.
