Among previously top-ranked companies is Switzerland's SIG Group, where it was announced today that activist investor Cevian Capital has acquired a 3.1 percent ownership stake.
Historically, about 10 percent of the 20 highest-ranked companies on the list have become targets of activist initiatives within 12 months, roughly three times higher than the average for the index.
