Thales said it would supply hundreds of armored vehicles to the Australian armed forces as part of a 750 million Australian dollar deal, equivalent to $536.4 million.

The French aerospace-and-defense company said Monday that the Australian government committed to the investment for the delivery of 268 additional Bushmaster Protected Mobility Vehicles.

The investment, which will support more than 290 jobs, enables Thales Australia and the Australian armed forces to jointly develop a new generation of the Bushmaster with capability enhancements, the company said. The vehicles will be built at Thales's facility in Bendigo, Australia, it added.
