Shares of technology companies rallied as fears about the obsolescence of software and data providers in the age of artificial intelligence subsided.

The SPDR Select Sector Technology exchange-traded fund rose more than 3% to return to the green for the year to date after a rout earlier in the week.

Shares of Nvidia soared, rising more than 8% after Chief Executive Jensen Huang appeared on CNBC and said fears about AI infrastructure spending were overblown, claiming that recent deals were only the beginning of a multiyear buildout.

Uber Technologies was ordered to pay $8.5 million in compensatory damages after a jury found the company liable for the 2023 sexual assault of a 19-year-old passenger.

Roblox's rollout of a new safety feature, which scans features to guess a user's age, has been strong, analysts said.
