The Stockholm stock exchange opened Tuesday's session with a broad decline, heading for a fourth consecutive day of falling prices. Wall Street closed lower last night, and the major European markets are posting losses in line with those seen in Stockholm.

In the news flow, industrial group ABB and construction company Skanska have both announced new, higher margin targets in conjunction with their respective capital markets days. However, both stocks are down amid today's negative market climate. Optics chain Synsam is rising on the back of its earnings report.

After 30 minutes of trading, the OMXS30 index was down 1.52 percent at 2,694.50. During the session, the index has traded within a range of -1.62 percent at its lowest and -1.12 percent at its highest.

The broader OMXSPI was down 1.45 percent.
