(Alliance News) - Standard Ethics has assigned Fincantieri Spa the Corporate Standard Ethics Rating (SER) 'EE-', and the company is a component of the SE Italian index.

Standard Ethics acknowledges that the defense sector is a complex industry, subject to multiple challenges.

"While some investors raise ethical concerns to justify excluding the sector from potential investments, Standard Ethics remains ethically neutral, in line with international guidelines," the agency stated.

The company publishes ESG policies and objectives, offers standard non-financial reporting, and bases its corporate governance system on an independent board of directors; however, analysts hope for the achievement of gender parity within the board and greater gender balance in company management.

"The constant updating of risk prevention and management structures appears fundamental for sustainability: any implementation that provides further safeguards and controls over the risks of illegal activities, worker safety, and the management of contracts and subcontracts is welcome."

Fincantieri shares are up 1.1% at EUR16.36 per share.
