Singapore's labor market continued expanding in the third quarter, supported by strong economic growth.
Total employment, excluding migrant domestic workers, grew by 25,100 during the quarter, according to revised data from the Ministry of Manpower on Thursday.
The latest figure marks a jump from the 10,400 increase in the second quarter and slightly higher than the advanced estimate of 24,800 for the third quarter.
The data aligns with the city-state's economic performance, as gross domestic product in the July-to-September period grew 4.2% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Singapore's overall unemployment stayed low at 2.0% in September.
Retrenchments were also stable at 3,670 during the third quarter, compared with 3,540 in the prior quarter.
However, global economic uncertainties remains high even although it has eased since the first half of the year, the ministry said. This will continue to weigh on firms and points to a moderation in labor demand.
"Looking ahead, business expectations show firms are more cautious in their intentions to hire or raise wages in the coming three months," the ministry said.
