German energy technology group Siemens Energy is expanding its footprint in Austria with a 155 million euro investment. The funds will be directed toward its sites in Linz and Weiz, the Ministry of Economic Affairs in Vienna announced on Monday. These projects are expected to create up to 180 new jobs. In Linz, Upper Austria, the company is building a new service plant for power transformers at a cost of 60 million euros. In Weiz, Styria, 95 million euros will be invested in expanding transformer production. The federal government is supporting the initiatives with multi-million euro subsidies.
