SES launches satellite connectivity service for Viva
SES has announced the launch, in partnership with Mexican low-cost carrier Viva, of a fast and reliable multi-orbit satellite connectivity service aboard Viva's Airbus fleet, strengthening SES's position as a leading provider of in-flight high-speed satellite internet services across the Americas.
'Viva passengers will soon benefit from reliable multi-orbit satellite connectivity, providing them with the same fast, high-performance internet access they enjoy at home, regardless of their location or flight time,' said Mike DeMarco, President of Mobility at SES.
Over the coming years, 60 A320s and 40 A321s will offer the SES solution. Operating the youngest Airbus A320 and A321 fleet in Latin America, Viva will be the first Mexican airline to offer a service utilizing the group's new electronically steered antenna (ESA).
Standing less than seven centimeters high, this antenna ensures reliable connectivity to the Luxembourg-based satellite operator's multi-orbit network. Connecting to satellites in different orbits guarantees consistent and reliable coverage, regardless of location.
