Safran has announced the establishment of a new landing gear equipment production facility in the Casablanca airport zone. This investment, exceeding €280 million, aims to support the increased production rates of the Airbus A320 with a modern industrial tool located close to strategic markets.

The 26,000 m² site, dedicated to short- and medium-haul aircraft, will bring together two areas of expertise from Safran Landing Systems: the manufacturing of landing gear components and modules, and the production of hydraulic equipment. The plant is scheduled to be operational by 2029 and will eventually employ nearly 500 people, supported by a training program developed in partnership with local stakeholders.

"The decision to locate this new plant here is based on Morocco's industrial strength and the quality of its talent," stated Olivier Andriès, CEO of Safran, emphasizing the goal of bolstering resilience, agility, and competitiveness, particularly in relation to Airbus.

This project is part of an agreement signed in 2025 with the Moroccan government, guaranteeing a 100% decarbonized electricity supply for the group’s facilities. Present in Morocco for 26 years, Safran employs around 5,000 people across 10 sites in the country.

Safran’s share price is down 1.4% this morning. As a reminder, it had soared by 8.3% on Friday, buoyed by promising results and by India’s green light for the purchase of 114 Rafale jets (Safran manufactures the M88 engine for the Rafale).
