COLOGNE/LUXEMBOURG (dpa-AFX) - Just days after receiving EU antitrust clearance for the acquisition of Sky Deutschland, RTL Group has restructured the future management board of RTL Deutschland. As previously announced, 51-year-old RTL Deutschland head Stephan Schmitter will lead the merged entity as CEO upon completion of the transaction, the company stated.

Following the closing of the deal, expected on June 1, Elke Walthelm and Michael Radelsberger from Sky Deutschland are set to be appointed to the management board. Additionally, Julia Kloke will join RTL Deutschland as Chief Financial Officer from the Bertelsmann subsidiary Riverty, effective May 1.

Strengthening position in the streaming and TV markets

Concurrently, current executives Ingrid Heisserer and Carsten Schwecke will be departing the company. The new leadership team, composed of representatives from both organizations, is tasked with driving the integration of RTL and Sky.

The European Commission approved the takeover on Wednesday evening without conditions. RTL Group had announced its acquisition plans in June 2025. The strategic objective is to bolster its position in the streaming and TV markets against major international competitors and to expand its subscription-based business./svv/DP/jha
