Rheinmetall has acquired a direct stake in the US drone specialist Auterion.
"Auterion, we have bought shares from them," Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said on Tuesday during a conversation with analysts. The transaction was completed just a few days ago. A Rheinmetall spokesperson declined to comment further on the details. Together with Auterion, Rheinmetall is developing operating systems for combat drones. The two companies had already signed an agreement to collaborate. Rheinmetall's drone systems are used by the German Bundeswehr and are also deployed in Ukraine.
