Workers at the Puig cosmetics plant in Vacarisses, near Barcelona, are set to stage a 24-hour strike on May 20 to protest pay differentials between various employee groups, the CGT union announced on Monday.

Puig is currently in talks with U.S. cosmetics group Estée Lauder regarding a potential merger that could create one of the world's largest beauty companies.

o The CGT stated that the dispute stems from discrepancies in financial compensation between groups within the same company and accused Puig of failing to address the issue.

o Puig did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

o The strike will affect all three shifts at the factory, according to the CGT.

o The union also plans to organize protests in front of Puig's headquarters in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, near Barcelona.

o Workers may consider further action if the company fails to present sufficient proposals, the CGT added.

o The Vacarisses plant produces cosmetics and skincare products for brands including Isdin, Charlotte Tilbury, Byredo, Loto del Sur, Dries Van Noten, L'Artisan, and Uriage.
