"We don't think that she is worthy of a peace prize. She has not... she has supported the American actions outside Venezuela against civilians, bombing the boats and also that she has expressed that she is positive towards American intervention in her own country."

Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado will not receive the Nobel Peace Prize in person at Wednesday's award ceremony in Oslo, the director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute said on Wednesday, with her current whereabouts unknown.

Machado, 58, was due to receive the award at a ceremony at Oslo City Hall in the presence of King Harald, Queen Sonja and Latin American leaders including Argentine President Javier Milei and Ecuadorean President Daniel Noboa.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the prize to Machado for her fight against what it called a dictatorship.

She has aligned with hawks close to U.S. President Donald Trump who argue that Maduro has links to criminal gangs that pose a direct threat to U.S. national security, despite doubts raised by the U.S. intelligence community.
