Orange, Bouygues and Free-Iliad said they got an extension of an exclusivity period to continue talks for their 20.35 billion-euro ($23.84 billion) bid to buy Altice's French business.

That period is now extended through June 5, they said Friday. The three major telecom operators in April were granted an initial exclusivity period through Friday to wrap up the terms of the deal and transaction document.

At this stage, there is no certainty that these discussions will result in an agreement, they said.
